What To Do When Facing Conflict With Our Fellow Brethren?

I would like to share these teachings in the Bible which are very relevant for all of us as who are facing difficulties, conflicts and issues within our fellow believer of Christ. Handling conflict is so stressful and so exhausting, a right attitude is so important to deal it with success. We may not win the battle the way we want it, but we will win the favour of God and of men. Here are few suggestions we can do to help us a victorious over any conflict. 

1. Seek and Keep the Peace of God - is the first thing we need to do and to have when conflict arises as it surpasses all the understanding and will definitely guard your heart.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7)

2. Show the Biblical approach in dealing a conflict - Take this as an opportunity for you to show your spiritual maturity as follower of Jesus Christ called to represent Christ to our fellow brethren and stand as their true spiritual brethren who practice what we know and share to them the Gospel of Jesus which includes the biblical way to resolve any disputed or clarifications.

Matthew 18:15-18
15 "If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. 17 If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. 

3. Expect Anger and Manage it within yourself. Pray to manifest us with the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Gal 5:22-23) such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; that will avoid us to fall into temptation brought by entertaining anger, rather, be intentional to share unity of belief (Eph 4:4-6) one body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God.

Matthew 5:21-26
21 "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.' 22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, 'You fool!' will be liable to the hell of fire. 23 So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. 25 Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison. 26 Truly, I say to you, you will never get out until you have paid the last penny.

4. If peace is maintained, peace has to be released as well through the help of the Holy Spirit. Stand as a servant of True God and not of men which will lead you not to take sides or be bias to attack the bottom of the cause of conflict rather than the person.

John 14:26-27
26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

5. Fight a good fight of faith. The conflict may not be resolved at all times in one seating, therefore, we need to avoid sinning in the whole duration of this process as it may lead us to temptation and sin against our fellow brethren and to God. Wear the full armour of God, the one tailored by Him and given by Him only and not by any men regardless. Because the Word of the Lord stands forever. Learn to rebuke ourselves if necessary and not only those we thought and perceived to be on the wrong side of the conflict. 

Ephesians 6:10-12
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Man of God - Pursue, Fight, Take Hold

Paul's Description Of A False Teacher

Shared Responsibility: Do Not Be A Stumble Block

During my advanced military training way back on my university days, we were thought of the very common principle “Obey first, before you complain.” This discipline has embedded to me and I allow myself to submit to any person that has authority over me, most especially to our God. On the very first time that I decided to start the new FBGC church service in Point Cook, I feel worried about the possibility that it may not work for me. Moreover, I was also ordained to be the local pastor in this new community of believers.
