Mark 5:18-20
18 As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed with demons begged him that he might be with him. 19 And he did not permit him but said to him, "Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you." 20 And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marveled.

One of the fears of being a Christian is to become a witness of Jesus Christ. When we've personally experienced the grace and mercy of our Lord Jesus in one of our personal encounters with Him, our normal reaction is to fall on his knees and beg to be with Him forever. The joy of just being with Him in His presence is our utmost desire and hope that it will never end. Most of believers have this kind attitude and mindset, thinking that just to stay in the presence of Jesus is the only desire of God for those whom He redeemed and healed. They have forgotten His promise in Matthew 28:20, that "...He will be with until the end".
Jesus just shown us a perfect answer for a kind of personal prayer with selfishness in the lives of any Christian believers, and that answer is a big NO! He is indeed rebuking us to simply think that way. Jesus, who have already planned everything before our mind can even perceived, has His greater purpose for any encounter He did with us. Whether we’ve known His power through dramatic and emotional experience such as Divine Healing, Miracle, and Favor; or just simple spiritual repentance and pure acceptance of His love; He did it for greater purpose in us? He called us all to be His witness.
No matter the weight of our story to others, the impact to those who will hear it is indeed in-explainable. It is not just about the story of miracles we received from God but it’s the power of His Goodness and Mercy and how He transformed us from our sinful living to righteousness we found from Him. Our obedience to Jesus’ teachings and responding to the call to be His witness, qualifies us to be the transformed Christ-like child of God. And as qualified, God will definitely never leave us nor forsaken us in the times of witnessing as He and His Spirit will speak through us, our lives being transformed in the image of God, and our living testimonies of God’s grace and mercy in us.
The beauty of witnessing is to simply talk, share, and proclaim. Talk is the natural means of communication towards others to be able to convey our story of life transformation. As we speak, we connect to them, and people get interested to our story. Share comes with your own personal desire to joyfully influence others of the same joy you have. Sharing is the overflowing abundance of joy you generously give without asking for any return from them, without expectation that there will be something to return. Proclaim is the authority you have received to speak about your story to others as the main recipient of God’s mercy and the delegated author of your own story of redemption and grace. It is powered with anointing from God and producing joy, courage, hope, faith, and love from yourself for others to have it as well.
Do not forget this, my fellow brethren in Christ, go back to our friends and families and tell what God has done in our lives and His abounding mercy to us. Your own story is the best life impacting story of one being the recipient of God's redemption to tell, share and proclaim to others!
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." -Joshua 1:9
