John 5:14- Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, "See, you are well! Sin no more, that nothing worse may happen to you."
Jesus after seeing the person He healed in the temple where he currently present as well, gives a very important command to a person who received mercy from Him and followed with a warning. In God’s sovereignty, He always have a choose to whom He wants to give mercy and grace and this disabled man is one of them. (Read the whole story in John 5:1-17.)
We are blessed enough to know that even anyone who do not have direct relationship or even faith in Jesus can be healed as He found pleasing to Him to grant mercy. But He wants these recipients of mercy to walk in His righteousness. He wants them not to sin no more.
Though we are sinner by nature, with obedience and submission to God and with the help of The Holy Spirit, we will be able to overcome sin, by wearing the full Armour of God Ephesians 6:10-20.
But Jesus warns us that we have to avoid sinning repeatedly, as the next time we did it, the worse may happen to us that where we were previously. God wants to stop the cycle of man’s sinfulness. He wants us to stand in our faith and live in faith.
Do we have sins that we repeatedly do? Is it forming a habit to us or becoming our norms? If there are any, today is our time to break it through. Let the chain that binds us to keep on sinning be broken and be released from it.
Jesus sacrificed for us to have the mercy and grace available for us for our salvation. And those who walk in Him will abide in His righteousness. Let us not waste that opportunity, rather, keep ourselves away from sinning.
Have a great Monday evening and God bless us all!
